The next blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2 from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the John D. Hooker Building at Rotary Field in Stuart.

We welcome all donors, those who will give for the first time and dedicated donors who have given before, with or without appointments.

The American Red Cross recommends donors maintain an iron-rich diet, get a good night’s sleep, and drink an extra eight ounces of water before donating.

Don’t forget to save time by answering the health-history questions on the day of the drive by visiting redcrossblood.org/RapidPass.org and print the pass or email it to your mobile device.

The May blood drive is sponsored by Keith Gunter, Realtor of Rogers Realty & Auction Co. located in the John D. Hooker Memorial Building at Rotary Field, next door to the blood drive.

We are celebrating appreciation of all blood donors during May and June blood drive. We will be serving hot dogs with all the fixings to honor those who give more than their time; they give their blood to save lives. It is just a small token for your generosity and dedication to helping mankind.

It is with a heavy heart that I report that the Patrick County Volunteers have lost one of their own. Noel Honeyman was a dedicated Red Cross volunteer and loved by all. He will be missed always. He is at peace now.

If you are interested in becoming a blood drive volunteer, please stop by Rotary Field during the blood drive or call 694-0272. Giving back to your community by volunteering can be a very rewarding experience. Thanks to our volunteers for being there for all donors.

Giving blood is one of the most satisfying and rewarding acts in your lifetime.

See you at the blood drive, May 2, celebrating “Donor Appreciation Day!”

Gene Stirewalt,

Coordinator
