Patrick County High School Cougar Austin Vernon (center) signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Ferrum College. The senior is flanked by his mother and father, Christie and Ricky Vernon. Patrick County High School baseball coach Eric Renegar (top-left), PCHS Athletic Director Terry Harris and Principal Trey Cox were also present at the signing. Last year, Austin had a .375 batting average, drove in 11 RBIs and hit five home runs. He was named to the All-Conference 32 Team at the conclusion of the season.
