The PAWS organization takes this opportunity to publicly thank Sheriff Dan Smith, Animal Control Officer Ronnie Williams, Patrick County Animal Shelter employees Wanda Vaden and Angela Rogers, Officer E.C. Stone from the Martinsville Police Department, the Humane Society of Virginia and the Angels of Assisi organization in Roanoke for the legal and necessary capture of 58 dogs from a hoarding situation in Patrick County on July 26. Their teamwork and dedication is very much appreciated.
We are thankful and truly grateful for their rescue and the now necessary housing and medical care many of the dogs require. The dogs will be held by Angels of Assisi, awaiting the legal proceedings and disposition of this case.
Situations like this usually start with the best of intentions, even with a few dogs. When not spayed or neutered and housed together, they will continue to produce unwanted litters. It gets out of control quickly.
Considering the expense and effort this will take for Angels of Assisi, they are in need of your support by making monetary donations for the care and medical costs of these 58 dogs. Please send your donations to: Angels of Assisi, 415 Campbell Ave., Roanoke, Va. 24016. Write “Patrick County Dogs” on the memo line of your check.
The Angels’ website is: angelsofassisi.org/donate where you can donate online. They are a 501(c)(3) organization and your gift if tax deductible.
You can follow the dogs’ progress on Facebook and PAWS will try to inform the public in the Voice of the People as we learn of how this situation progresses.
Thank you for your caring donation.
