Letter to the Editor

Our current congressman’s recent letter to the editor looks like a boiler plate piece cooked up by a think tank to win elections and promoted by Fox News and other social media, party members  to keep power, not to help the people. The gas prices around the world have gone up as have food prices even in Asia. Gas prices in many other countries easily run two to near four times the price here.  Biden is not the President of all these countries. Biden has tapped our oil reserves, worked with other countries to help bring more oil on line. The big five oil companies have at least 9,000 permits to drill. What’s this congressman and his powerful party done to put pressure on the big oil companies to lower the prices as they are making a huge profits or help Biden in his efforts.

Biden has worked to begin moving  our country out of depending on fossil fuels for energy-getting cars, and trucks switched to electric and then onto renewable energy as solar fields, wind turbines come on line. Burning gasoline is one of the primary sources of carbon dioxide which is a major greenhouse gas.

The Biden 2022 tax credit of up to $12,500 on the purchase of new electric vehicles (EVs) and $4,000 on used EVs helps in the fight global warming and helps pocketbooks.  Fact checking shows that around the world  a good percent of EV owners are also investing in solar panels for their homes. A Tesla owner showed me his electric bill for his vehicles and home–thirteen dollars and a few cents. Used and new EVs have been snapped up and the hybrids too.

The congressman omitted news of the rapid advances being made in battery technology. For instance, the 12 million mile battery that can be charged in 8 minutes, lasts 9,200 miles between charges, has a life span of 12 million miles. Not fiction. Then the Redwood battery company – founded by Elon Musk’s partner J.B. Straubel -reclaims 95% of the critical materials in the batteries. New technology and battery storage technology  are important to cleaner energy.

The current  congressman and Republican leaders never bother to criticize Trump for (1) meeting the Russians in the White House, laughing and toasting with them in 2017 after his election with only the Russian press covering the meeting, (2)) trying in 2018 to move us out of NATO under the guise of disgust that the other countries were not paying their share. Putin might not have started war against  Ukraine if Republican had pushed back on Trump.

This congressman and other powerful Republican leaders ignore the UN Code Red warning for humanity. “Blame Biden” is the words the Republicans and our (R) Congressman are counting on to win. No work. No worries.

Embrace hope for the winds of change. Someone who will work for you is running.
