Spring Litter Clean Up is being promoted all over Patrick County by numerous groups and individuals throughout March and April. Many do take pride in doing this.

I certainly hope that the dilapidated eyesore at 129 E. Blue Ridge St., adjacent to Carter Bank, can be included in this project. This house was vacated over four months ago by adults, children and pets. I’m not even sure exactly..how…that was allowed to happen and continue, considering the living conditions there.

There is trash and debris scattered around the yard and on the front porch, that can be easily seen from Blue Ridge St. The windows are covered with cardboard, the roof and porch are caving in. Is this really what we want to represent to visitors and potential residents to our town and county?

Perhaps the authorities will do their job and eliminate this disgraceful and unhealthy “attraction.” Maybe a volunteer fire department could use it for training and burn it down. A vacant lot would be a welcome change.
