The Patrick County 4 H Marksmen recently traveled to the W.E. Skelton 4 H Educational Center at Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, Virginia, to participate in the 2026 Virginia 4 H Spring Air Competition. Twenty two 4 H shooting sports clubs from across the state attended, with more than 188 youth competing in 17 different events.
Competing for the Patrick County 4 H Marksmen were Kennedy Adkins, Landon Alderman, Case Cobler, Cole Nelson, Alexa Diaz, Titus Duncan, Brantley Fortner, Lucas Hartman, Evelyn Hayes, Gabriella Johnson, Keller Muse, Eamon Owens, Zechariah Pickerel, Maggie Pickerel, Thomas Reasor, Novie Rutledge, Kolden Sprinkle, Reagan Underwood, Maci Whitlock, and Cooper Wikstrom.

The Patrick County 4 H Marksmen use shooting sports as a vehicle to teach youth ages 9–19 life skills such as responsibility, self discipline and teamwork through archery, muzzle loading, pistol, rifle and shotgun disciplines. Youth also learn firearm safety and marksmanship.
The Patrick County 4 H Marksmen would like to thank American Legion Post No. 105 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States for their continued support. The club operates through fundraising and grant funding and gratefully acknowledges the NRA Foundation and MidwayUSA Foundation for their generous grants that help make shooting sports programming possible in the community.
