A Stuart man was fatally injured Friday at his home after being struck by a falling tree, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith.
Shortly after 11 a.m., first responders were dispatched to Witt Creek Lane, where Carlos Junior Taylor had been found unresponsive.
Sheriff’s investigator Steve Austin said that Taylor, 70, had cut a tree on his property. As it was falling to the ground, the cut tree made contact with an adjacent tree. The adjacent tree was uprooted and also fell, striking Taylor.
The incident was a tragic accident, Smith said.
