Loeva Handy Mills, age 88, of Lawsonville, N.C., died Saturday December 3, 2016, at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection.
She was born in Martinsville on November 4, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Elija Zebedee Handy and Flora Lane Handy. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Marvin Mills; her beloved son, Jerry Mills Sr.; two brothers, Mount Dean Handy and Elwood Handy; and a sister, Madeline Handy.
She was a member of Peter’s Creek Baptist Church, was loved by many and nurtured everyone she met. She was the cornerstone of her family and will be deeply missed.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Bobbi Ploof and husband Jason of Huntington Beach, Calif., Jerry Mills Jr. and wife Christina of Fullerton, Calif., Jennifer Newmark and husband Brian of Fullerton, and Loeva Virginia Cowdrey and husband Chad of Lawsonville, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren, Soular, Reece, Aris, Cirrus, Jerry III., Teagan, Logan, and Shepherd; a great-niece, Celeste Handy; nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Peter’s Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Ragsdale officiating. The interment will be private.
