obit-loma-martinLoma Saunders Martin, 83, of Walnut Cove, N.C., died on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection.
She was born on January 1, 1933 in Macon County, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Fannie Burnette Saunders and Walter C Saunders. She was also preceded in death by her first husband; Albert Parker; her second husband; Hadyn Mitchell; her third husband; Wesly Martin; a son; Ernest Lee Parker; two sisters; Evelyn Pickens and Nellie Foley; and four brothers; George Sanders, Everette Sanders, Marvin Saunders and Wayne Saunders. She was a member of Valley Drive Baptist Church and worked for Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County until she retired. Surviving are her daughter; Patsy Gail Primm of Strawberry Plains, Tenn.; two sons; Steve M. Mitchell of Walnut Cove and Rodger D. Mitchell of Bassett; two brothers; John Alfred Sanders of Hendersonville, N.C., and Joseph Cecil Sanders of Liberty, S.C.; seven grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 26 at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Bassett with Pastor Bobby Rakes officiating. Arrangements were by Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory of Stuart. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.NorrisFuneral.com.
