Lottie Ann Smart, age 85 of the Moorefield Store Community in Stuart, Virginia departed this life on Sunday, November 10, 2024, after a long illness. Her final days were surrounded by the family she loved and cared for. Mrs. Smart was born in Patrick County, Virginia on February 20, 1939, to the late Alvis Lee Griffin and Nannie Emma Biggs Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Lee Griffin.
Mrs. Smart is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Arlis Kirby Smart; five daughters, Arlisa Johnson of Stuart, Anissa Smart of Spencer, Autumn Smith (Jeff) of Elkton, Annika Smart of Elkin, North Carolina, and Angel Purdy (Robby)of Stuart; seven grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Jaheim Johnson, Michael Landon Chilton, Trenton Jeffrey Smith, John Kirby Smith, Nic Fulcher and Emma Grace Purdy; five sisters-in-law: Janice Griffin of Stuart, Gay Browne of Mount Airy, North Carolina, Emma Joy Hicks of Butner, North Carolina, Gloria Martin (Johnnie) of Bassett, and Carol Sutphin of Willis; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
A covered dish celebration of life gathering will be held on Wednesday evening, November 13, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church Fellowship Hall.
