Lula Ware Handy Martin

Mrs. Lula Ware Handy Martin, age 82 of Patrick Springs, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at her home. She was born in Patrick County on January 2, 1941, to the late Roy Handy and Maudie Rakes Handy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Handy. Mrs. Martin worked at Stuart Drug Store and later retired from United Elastic. She enjoyed working in her flowers and attending flea markets as she liked to collect Barbie Dolls and carnival glass. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of her family and friends.

Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Carson Martin of the home; one son, Roger Martin of Walnut Cove, NC; three grandsons, Austin Martin and wife, Sarah, Parker Martin, Tyler Hazelwood; two great grandchildren, Aina Martin, Rena Martin; one sister, Betty Townes of Richmond; one brother, Wayne Handy of Patrick Springs; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 240 Commonwealth Blvd W., Unit 602B, Martinsville, VA 24112.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
