An Ararat man was arrested June 27 on a charge of rape, according to the weekly arrest report from Sheriff Dan Smith.\r\nMaurice Chevelle Carter, 51, of Unity Church Road in Ararat, was charged with rape by force, threat or intimidation.\r\nDeputy D. Dillon made the arrest.\r\nNo details about the case or the charge were available.\r\nSheriff Smith also reported the following arrests:\r\n\u2022 Walther Alonso Romero Rivera, 28, of Hillsville, was arrested June 27 on a charge of driving while intoxicated, first offense.\r\nDeputy O. Foley made the arrest.\r\n\u2022 Robby Glenn Grona II, 22, of Patrick Springs, was arrested June 28 on a charge of probation violation.\r\nHenry County made the arrest for Patrick County.\r\n\u2022 John Henry McBride, 36, of Bassett, was arrested June 29 on an indictment charge of destroying property.\r\nDeputy W.D. Haymore made the arrest.\r\n\u2022 Timothy Wayne Belcher, 54, of Stuart, was arrested June 29 on a charge of violating a protective order.\r\nDeputy J.G. Pickerel made the arrest.\r\n\u2022 Patric Connor Romesburg, 23, of Chatham, was arrested June 30 on two counts of trespassing and one count of stalking.\r\nDeputy Bryant Pruitt made the arrest.
