A man was charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with an alleged mid-week incident in the Fairystone community.

Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith said that late Wednesday night, a woman alleged to deputies that she had been shot at while inside the home she shared with her partner.

The home is located in the Fairystone area of the county, Smith said, and added that evidence suggested a bullet “narrowly missed” the woman, who was able to flee from the home and seek help.

She alleged a cache of weapons and ammunition were inside the home and threats allegedly were made to fire upon law enforcement officers coming to the home, Smith said.

Early Thursday morning, tactical teams from both the Patrick and Henry County sheriffs’ offices surrounded the home to execute both a search and an arrest warrant.

Smith said that the armored vehicle from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office was used as the initial approach vehicle, and commands were given to the alleged suspect inside to exit the home.

After several minutes, a man exited the front of the home and surrendered without incident.

During a search of the home, officers found evidence that allegedly included multiple firearms and an assortment of ammunition, according to Smith, who added a .45 caliber handgun allegedly fired inside of the home at the woman also was recovered.

In addition to attempted first degree murder, Jason Leigh Williams, 36, of 309 Goblintown Creek Road, also was charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and maliciously discharging a firearm inside of a dwelling in connection with the incident.

He is being held without bond in the Patrick County Jail, Smith said.
