obit Kendrick, MaryMary Hutcherson Kendrick, 89, of Martinsville, died Monday, June 13, 2016 at her home.
She was born in Patrick County on August 20, 1926, and was a daughter of the late John Hutcherson and the late Ida Kate Dillon Hutcherson. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Joe Paul Kendrick; a son, Paul “Bud” Kendrick Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and James Parnell, Margaret and James Foley; brothers, Junior Lee Hutcherson and William Hutcherson; and a brother-in-law, Gomer Walker.
She is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law: Shirley K. and Carl Eagle of Martinsville, Marie K. and Johnny Morgan of Pilot, Carolyn Gail and Dan Osborne of Riner, Dena K. and Randy Key of Galax, Rena K. and John Wigington of Greensboro, N.C., and Sue K. and Tommy Nelson of Petersburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Carlton J. and Irma Kendrick of Hillsville, Bobby M. and Regina Kendrick of Pulaski, Timothy L. and Elaine Kendrick of Spencer; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one sister, Madeline Walker of Bassett; several nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Mary and Joe Hollandsworth and Alan and Virginia Jessup.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, the West Wing nurses and staff of Pioneer Community Hospital and Dr. Ralph Kramer for all the kindness and concern shown Mary and her family.
The funeral service was held Thursday in the Bassett Funeral Service chapel with Pastors Freddie Bonds and Dwayne Martin officiating. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 730 E. Church Street #13, Martinsville, VA 24112.
