Mary Alice Spencer Earles, age 87, of Critz, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1928 in Patrick County and was a daughter of the late James Early Spencer and Arta Alice Craig Spencer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Earles; two sisters, Peggy Wagoner and Shirley Jean Spencer; and three brothers, James, John Henry, and Clinton Stuart Spencer.
She had retired from the Blue Ridge Nursing Home and had worked for several years in the Patrick County School System. She was a member of Critz Baptist Church since 1968.
Surviving are one sister and a brother-in-law, Linda and William Roberts of Critz; sister-in-law, Logene Spencer of Stuart; uncle and aunt, Jasper and Jamie Wagoner of Henry; two special nephews, John Crews of Henry and Michael Roberts of Critz; several nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Helen Puckett of Stuart, and Frances Smart of Critz.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Critz Baptist Church with Pastors Alan Vass and Ben Baum officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Critz Baptist Church, P.O. Box 99, Critz, VA 24082.
The family would like to thank Drs. Cole and Kramer and the staff at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection for the wonderful care that they provided.
