By Debbie Brown, PC EMG

The Patrick County Master Gardeners are excited to announce their upcoming training program beginning in January 2021.

The training, which is offered every two years, is a requirement for all those who would like to become a Master Gardener volunteer in our community. Specialized training will include computer–based modules as well as hands-on and virtual labs.

An orientation meeting for those interested will be held on January 14 at 6 p.m. in the Creative Arts Center in Stuart.

The Extension Master Gardener program is a volunteer education partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension dedicated to working with the community to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices. Serving alongside others, while educating the community in various volunteer opportunities, is a fun and rewarding experience. EMG members grow as environmentalists, gardeners and much more.

The cost of the training is $125. For more information on becoming a PC EMG volunteer, contact Sherry Easterbrooks at 276-694-5249 or easterbrookssherry@yahoo.com.
