The Patrick County Master Gardeners are offering garden grants for up to $500 for garden projects that reduce food insecurities, vegetable or fruit gardens, and necessary garden tools.

Grant criteria, eligibility, and applications are available on our website, the Patrick County Extension Office, and on our Facebook page.

Applications will be accepted through March 31, when all applications must be received in the Patrick County Extension Office.

To be considered for a grant, the applicant:
• Must be a Patrick County resident.
• Must complete and submit the grant form in its entirety.
• Garden projects will be for reduction of food insecurities; vegetable or fruit gardens; public gardens; native, pollinator, and or natural habitat plantings; raising plants for sale to support a non-profit organization; composting; purchasing plant labels; garden tools; or similar items that are considered to have educational value.
• Awardees must provide written updates once a quarter and a post-award report to the Garden Grant Committee at the end of the year. Failure to do so will make them ineligible for future awards.

The grant program is open to all residents and/or nonprofit organizations in Patrick County.

Grant awards will not exceed $500.

The Garden Grant Committee reserves the right to determine the amount of funding, including full funding, partial funding, or not at all.

Compliance and Reporting:
• All applications must be complete to be eligible for consideration. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
• Award funds are to be used solely for garden expenses as stated in the application.
• Award funds may not be used for indirect expenses like food, travel, computers, cameras, software, salaries or field trips.
• Awardees hold full legal and financial responsibility for their project.
