The Patrick County Tourism Advisory Council has approved grant funding to assist each district in Patrick County through the Tourism Incentive Reimbursement Matching Grant Program for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
This grant is funded by the transient occupancy tax. No taxpayer dollars are used to market Patrick County.
The tourism matching grant program is designed to stimulate visitor spending, increase overnight stays in the tourism-sector as well as support the development of robust and sustainable economies that include businesses in Patrick County.
The Tourism Advisory Council Grant Sub-Committee worked diligently to ensure that more than $30,000 of funds will be provided to the following events in Patrick County:
Covered Bridge Festival;
Covered Bridge Festival 5K Run;
The Mountain of Music Week- Kid’s Pollinator Garden @ Blue Ridge Heritage;
Kibler Valley River Run;
JEB Stuart Civil War Encampment & Living History Weekend;
Bushels and Barrels Local Food, Wine, and Beer Festival;
2nd Sundays American Music Concert Series;
Wayside Bluegrass Festival;
Patrick County Music Association Concerts;
The Virginia Faery Festival;
Bootleggers Blitz Virginia State Mountain Bike Race.
Each event is tourism related.
Eligible projects will receive reimbursement for marketing. Print, radio, digital or television advertisements must promote Patrick County to visitors, and must incorporate aspects of the “Experience the Simple Life” campaign and include the Patrick County Tourism website www.visitpatrickcounty.org. The award recipients have 90 days after the specific event to turn in receipts before they are awarded requested funding.
