Matthew Roland “Mack” Midkiff, 81, of Bassett, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart.
He was born in Floyd, on August 8, 1934, and was a son of the late Earl and Ethel Mae Jones Midkiff. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Irene Huff Midkiff; and a brother, Donnie Green Midkiff.
He was retired from Stanley Furniture Company and at one time a volunteer on the Bassett Rescue Squad and Fire Department.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth M. Midkiff of Talladega, Ala.; two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Junior Midkiff of Stuart.
The funeral service was held Monday at Collins Funeral Home-Bassett Chapel with Ron Peal, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, Bassett, officiating. Burial was in Henry Memorial Park, Bassett Forks.
The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice nurses and Blue Ridge Nursing Center for their care of Matthew Midkiff and family.
