obit leonard turnerLeonard Turner, 80, of Spencer, died on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at his home.
He was born April 19, 1935, in Henry County and was a son of the late John Reed Turner and Texas Elizabeth Craig. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mae Hylton; four brothers: Author Turner, Frank Turner, Euell Turner and Irey Turner; and a son-in-law, Ricky Dale Branch.
He retired from Sara Lee Knitting Company as a supervisor and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Henry County.
Surviving are his wife, Edith Juanita Turner of the home; one daughter, Laura Ann Branch and fiancé, Dennis Edward Napier of Bassett; one son, Kenneth Leon Turner of Martinsville; two sisters, Minnie Hylton of Collinsville and Catherine Dillon of Patrick Springs; one brother, Henry Lee Turner of Ridgeway; and one granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Branch of Bassett.
The funeral will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastors Doug Ramsey and Steve Hayes officiating. Burial will be at County Line Church of God of Prophecy cemetery with military rites by Patrick County Veterans’ Memorial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 18981 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Stuart, Va. 24171.
