obit-hubbard-maynardMaynard Alvery Hubbard, age 73, of Stuart, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on March 15, 1943 to the late Alvery Brockley “A.B.” Hubbard and Fannie Ellen Harbour Hubbard. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, James, Ernest, Clyde and Marvin Hubbard; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lou Ella and Alvin Handy.
He had attended Jack’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church and retired from logging. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother and friend, and he lived his life to the fullest.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Willa Kay Rogers Hubbard of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert James “R.J.” and Penny Hubbard and Richard and Lorine Hubbard, all of Stuart; grandchildren, James Hubbard and wife Tina, Jami Fain and fiancé Gary Ayers and Cody Smith; great-grandchildren, Martina Hubbard, Emmalyn Hubbard and Mason Ayers; one sister and brother-in-law, Delora and John Barker of Martinsville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Brandy Freeman of Woolwine.
Funeral services were held Monday at Jack’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Komoda officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
