The Meadows of Dan Community Association invites and urges everyone in the Meadows of Dan community and others who are descendants of the community or who love Meadows of Dan to join the community association.
The community association organizes the Folk Fair and the Christmas Parade. It is also responsible for the gateway signs on the Hwy. 58 bypass that direct travelers toward the business community.
There are grant opportunities coming up. We must come together to plan for the future of Meadows of Dan.
Urgent and pending right now, the Concord Primitive Baptist Church is in peril because of a leaking roof. At the next community association meeting we will discuss and plan fund-raising to save the church. Concord Primitive Baptist Church is one of the oldest historic landmarks in Meadows of Dan. We will not let it collapse.
Estimates to fix the roof are around $15,000. We have $1,600. We need help in forming a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that will assume responsibility for the church. We will then open it up to the community to use for events like weddings and family reunions.
There will be a charge for the use of the church. That money will go toward maintenance for the building and grounds.
Concord Primitive Baptist Church will be first and foremost and forever preserved as a Primitive Baptist house of worship. Secondarily we hope to preserve it as a historic landmark and a sacred location for the Meadows of Dan community to enjoy and use for special events. We need help, organizationally and financially to save the church.
The community association meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the community building. The next meeting will be September 8. You are invited.
