At its monthly meeting on Oct. 12, the Meadows of Dan Community Association discussed continued work on the Meadows of Dan Revitalization Project, hosting a crowd of 60 participants that took part in talks with county officials, engineering consultants, and Department of Housing and Community Development Representatives.
The engineering firm, the Lane Group, was ultimately selected for the continued work on the project. County Tourism Director Joseph Quesenberry explained the purpose of the engineering firm
“Now that we have selected the Lane Group, they will work with DHCD and county officials to create a master plan for the Meadows of Dan community, incorporating the many objectives they want to see accomplished,” he said.
“After a multitude of meetings, some key elements to be incorporated are sidewalks, recreational trails, water and sewer, façade improvements, an indoor performance venue, signage, kiosks, and public restrooms. We will work with both DHCD officials and our engineering firm to explore opportunities for supplemental funds to help us achieve our goals and expand upon our goal of $700,000 in construction funds and $300,000 in revolving loan funds,” Quesenberry said.
Following a conversation with the engineering firm, a tentative December date has been set for the completion of the initial plans. Once completed, the community association will meet and discuss any amendments that they deem necessary. Following this, the county will then apply for the construction and revolving loan funds.
