Patrick County Retired Teachers Association held its December meeting and watched a performance by “One Accord.”

The group reviewed past events and commended those involved, while the teachers prepared December birthday bags for residents at the nursing home.

They then discussed upcoming projects including: a visit to the Patrick County Developmental Center on December 4th where teachers deliver treats and a monetary donation.  A Christmas social is  planned for December 7 at the Hooker Building.

The PCRTA Book Blub will meet December 18 at the library.  “Where the Crawdads Sing,” by Delia Owens will be the book discussed; visitors are welcome. Singing at the nursing home will follow at 2 p.m.

A report was given on sales of the book Voices from the Classroom, a collection of actual teaching situations and original words  of wisdom, humor, and inspiration from teachers throughout the state as well as original works from Patrick County Retired Teachers. These books can the purchased from Judy Lacks or any other PCRTA member.

Hostesses for the December meeting were Claudine Harman, Lena Martin, Linda Dunlap, Nancy Peters, Stephanie Martin, and Betty Perry.

Phyllis Eastridge was the winner of the door prize, a beautiful Christmas floral arrangement.
