Lisa P. Mickles is seeking the Peters Creek District seat on the Patrick County Board of Supervisors in the November election.
She is currently unopposed in her election bid.
Mickles said she decided to run as she feels the county needs an unbiased and fresh set of eyes on the board.
“I want to help. I want to listen. I want to improve the Patrick County that we have now and assist this county in taking a measured path into the future. It is my belief that the citizens of Patrick County should have a voice in what happens in their own community,” she said.
Because she is currently not on the board, Mickles believes she does not know what the exact issues the county and board are facing.
“I am particularly interested in what’s actually going on and everything that’s going in front of the board and being voted on,” she said. “I don’t have an agenda because I am going in open-minded and not making promises I cannot fulfill without a majority vote.”
She added, “it is my belief that the citizens of Patrick County should have a voice in what happens in their own community. It is my desire to be a part of a Board of Supervisors that listens, learns, and lives up to their duty to represent Patrick County.”
Mickles, who has served three years as a Deputy Clerk in the Patrick County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, said she has helped residents “with all their estate and probate needs, and performing other various duties” in that post.
She worked in the banking sector in the past and also previously owned a business in Henry County.
