Pictured here are my late son Ronald and late grandson Chris at the Patrick County Fair 30 years ago. Chris had open heart surgery when he was six months old, and an angel loaned him to us here for awhile. Ronald and Chris touched many lives in their time with us with their kindness to others.

The spaghetti supper for Pastor Marion’s Israel trip went well, and the meal was delicious. Teresa and Gloria always have delicious meals.
Thanks to Leonard and Arlene Trent, who took me to the 9/11 service at Mayo Mountain Church. It was so nice and paid tribute to the 9/11 losses. It was sad, but was a beautiful memorial. Music was provided by Mayo Mountain Praise and Worship Team, Marcie Horne, and Hodgesville Pentecostal Church of Rocky Mount.
Also, the Christian Motorcycle Riders were there and I got to see David Hylton from up on the mountain. Bruce and Gina and Destiny Trent were there, and their singing was beautiful. Destiny had some of her homemade bracelets. Sheriff Dan Smith made a good talk.
Pastor David Heath ended up with a wonderful message and then the ladies had wonderful and delicious refreshments. It’s a beautiful church with wonderful views in the mountains.
To add to all the excitement, Bruce and Gina Trent were on 98.1 radio that day in Galax.
I am very sad about the supervisors closing the soup kitchen and am hoping they think about what they have done, but I guess that’s the way the world is today. But I decided I will continue to see about my people and see that they get something to eat and check on them. It’s my Christian duty, and the Lord will provide.
Thanks to the person who left something for me at Elizabeth’s Pizza. It surely did brighten my day after so much chaos that day. God bless you!
The hummingbirds are still hanging around and enjoying my flowers. So are the butterflies. They are at Miss Claudine’s home also.
Thanks to Roger Hayden and Lock Boyce for all their concerns. You are in my prayers.
It was so nice to see Vanessa (Denny’s niece) and be with her some, and Mary Ann. They are two of my favorite people.
The Patrick County Agricultural Fair is coming to town, one of the big events in Patrick County every year. I have lots of good memories of taking my son and grandson to the fair. We entered some exhibits and won several ribbons one year. Good memories.
Household hint: Idea for a child’s birthday cake: push animal-shaped cookie cutters lightly into icing on cakes or cupcakes. Fill depressed outlines with chocolate icing for decorated confections.
SPAGHETTI SALAD
1 package thin spaghetti
1/2 jar Kroger’s salad dressing
1 pkg. Italian dressing
1 tomato, diced
1 green pepper, chopped
1 cucumber
1 onion, chopped
Cook spaghetti and drain. Mix the Italian dressing according to directions on the package and add to the spaghetti. Add salad dressing, tomato, green pepper, cucumber, and onion. Toss and let cool in the refrigerator at least 8 hours.
Food for thought
Down in the mouth? Remember Jonah: He came out all right.
