mtn-top019Winter came in the other day with winds blowing up to 50 mph and finally cold temperatures. We surely need rain for all the dry land and danger of fire. I was so sad to hear that a 92-year-old lady in Cana was raking leaves and lost her life to fire.
The benefit for Peachie Pace went really well with lots of nice things. I enjoyed the music. It had been a while since I had heard “Almost There.” That is one of my favorite groups and I love their gospel music. Keep Peachie in your prayers, along with her family.
I’m sure that many of you remember Bob Heafner from when he lived in Patrick County. I was sorry to hear of the death of his 43-year-old son. Love and heartfelt sympathy go to the family in their tragic loss.
The Soup Kitchen in Patrick Springs was really busy cooking and delivering 62 meals to folks for Thanksgiving. There was some good help and sisters helped a lot and packed all of the meals of chicken, dressing, baked beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin dessert. It was a blessing for me to go to eight homes to deliver meals and visit.
It’s a tradition on Thanksgiving for me to go to the home of my sister-in-law Hilda. That night I go to Larry and Teresa Martin’s home for supper and to be with all their family. What a blessing and I’m so thankful.
Folks in my neighborhood have already decorated their yards for Christmas. It looks really pretty at night and I enjoy the decorations.
Something to think about: in a world in which love has grown cold, a kindness that comes from the heart of God is one of the most helpful and healing things we can do and offer to others. The knowledge that God has loved me beyond all limits will compel me to go out into the world to love others in the same way. Anyone can be kind.
To make your own tarter sauce; use one cup mayonnaise, one tablespoon onion, finely chopped, two tablespoons pickle relish ; one tablespoon parsley and one tablespoon pimento. Combine all ingredients and chill.

SEVEN STEPS
TO HEAVEN
1 stick melted margarine
1 6-oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 6-oz. pkg. butterscotch chips
1 cup coconut
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 can Eagle Brand milk
In a 9×13-inch pan, melt the stick of margarine, then add all other ingredients. Pour one can of Eagle Brand milk on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Food for thought
Doesn’t everyone look so much better when they smile?
