After so much rain lately, it’s always good to see a day of sunshine. To me, it’s like a dose of medicine.
The first Saturday of every month is always special. Then it’s time for the country breakfast at Providence Methodist Church and I get to see some of my favorite people – Pastor Marion, Pastor Jim, Mike and Sue Hall, and get to eat with them.
Susan Brown loves to cook. She brought some yummy dumplings to Joe Cerino’s spiritual warfare class for us all to eat. Thank you, it was delicious.
So sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Curtis Young. Curtis was a mechanic at Bassett Walker and a very nice gentleman.
The Soup Kitchen is back in operation again after a much needed break. I was glad to see my clients again. Mrs. Plasters (103 years old) was busy doing her leg exercises and doing a good job at it. I love all of my clients.
The men’s ministry cooked breakfast for supper on Wednesday. It was delicious and I can eat that anytime.
Happy belated birthday to “Hoss Trent.” I hope you have had a good day. Hoss is a great singer and a happy guy just about all of the time.
Edie Lemons is always surprising me. She made me a beautiful tote bag and brought some more Amish books to read. She is a blessing to me and many others. The Lord has given her a special talent and she uses it.
The weather man is predicting all kinds of weather. Guess we will wait and see. The Lord is in control.
Mary Ann called from D.C. and she was excited because Ricky Skaggs was coming to town.
Food for thought – Lord keep your arm around our shoulders and your hand over our mouths.
Sweet potato pie
1 1/2 cup sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
1/2 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter
1 can milk
1 large egg
1 small box vanilla pudding
1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring
1 pie crust
Bake crust for 10 minutes. Beat potatoes until fluffy. Add other ingredients and beat again. Bake in preheated over at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Food hint – Snack on raisins. They have healthy doses of fiber, iron and vitamin C. Your sweet tooth will get a quick fix too.
