The fifth and final 2016 Mountaintop Blood Drive took place the week before Thanksgiving in the Meadows of Dan Community Center.
The results were wonderful: 30 units of blood were donated. That was 12 units over the goal set by the American Red Cross for this drive. Donation “milestone” pins were given to Joseph Fred Pack for eight gallons and to Jennifer G McEvoy for one gallon of accumulated donations.
And (how about this for a factoid) the total cumulative units of blood given over time by our 30 donors stands at 729. That’s an average of six gallons per person. It is such a pleasure to be among folks who are committed in this way to consistently helping others in this life saving way.
We owe a warm word of thanks to our seven volunteers from the Meadows of Dan Women’s Club: Betty Banks, Andrea Frazier, Evona Helms, Jane Hubbard, Mary Locke, Martha Nyquist, and Becky Rudolph who provided TLC to our donors.
A big thank you also goes out to Nancy’s Homemade Fudge for providing sugar we all needed to begin replenishing our blood supply. To all our donors who took time from their busy day to help others. thank you so very, very much.
