Mr. Arthur Waymon “Pops” Wood

Mr. Arthur Waymon “Pops” Wood, age 77 of Vesta, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019.  He was born in Patrick County on October 15, 1942 to the late Arthur D. Wood, Jr. and Helen Fitzgerald Wood.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Conner Wood; his step-mother, Roberta Isenhart Wood; and two brothers, Leon Wood and Kenneth Fitzgerald. Waymon had retired from United Elastic with over 44 years of service and attended Open Door Community Church.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

          Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lynn Wood of Danville, Larry and Cheri Wood of Stuart; three grandchildren, Devin Matthew Wood and wife, Sarah, Joshua E. Martin and wife, Gwen, Haley Elizabeth Wood; four great grandchildren, Ryan Wood, Braylon Arrington, Mahala Martin, Brody Martin; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Linwood Belcher, Jean and Bill Banks, Ann and Richard Helms all of Meadows of Dan, Victoria and Tim Gregory of Oak Level, Lynn Dalton of Lynchburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Arleen Wood of Meadows of Dan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

          Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Wes Conner officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Larry and Cheri Wood, 28963 Jeb Stuart Hwy, Stuart, VA 24171. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Patrick County Chapter, P.O.
