Mr. Jackie Lee Swiney, age 80 of Taylorsville, NC, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021.  He was born in Patrick County on November 21, 1940, to the late Jesse Swiney and Vertie Cruise Swiney.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Myrna Wood Swiney; a son, Jackie Swiney; one sister, Frances Spangler; and two brothers, Marvin and Wayne Swiney.  Jack was a member of The Chapel Church in Hickory, NC.  He spent his life in the tire business and owned a business in Roanoke at one point.  He was a jack of all trades who loved working with his hands and working the land.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Rosanna and Douglas Whisnant; two grandsons, Turner and Conner Whisnant; three sisters, Pauline Ney, Carol Hoskins, Barbara Terry; one brother, Roger Swiney; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Alex Cockram Family Cemetery with Dr. Dale Watts officiating.  Memorials may be made to The Chapel Church-Hickory, 410 26th Ave, Hickory, NC 28601.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
