Mr. James Morris Puckett

Mr. James Morris Puckett, age 84 of Meadows of Dan, passed away March 31, 2021 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on May 19, 1936 to the late Henry Puckett and Kate Burge Puckett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Terry Puckett, Elbert Puckett, Harry Puckett; two sisters, Mildred Shelton, and Margaret Sowers; brothers-in-law, Strother Shelton, Gaylon Sowers, Clarence Mitchell; and sisters-in-law, Virginia Puckett, Minnie Puckett, and Florence Puckett. Morris was a member of Collinstown Presbyterian Church and a former member of CCDF Vol. Fire Department. He retired from Stuart Elastic Plant with over 43 years of service. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed bluegrass music.

Surviving is his wife, Norma Jean Caldwell Puckett of the home; one step-son, Mark Webb and wife, Samantha of Fincastle; one sister, Juanita Mitchell of Stuart; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Hiram Cox of Hillsville; six nephews, Larry Puckett, Ronnie Shelton, Clay Puckett, Richard Puckett, Darrell Mitchell, Wayne Sowers; and one niece, Sherri Hazlewood.

A graveside service will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM in Patrick Memorial Gardens with Pastors Tracey Collins and Shaun Draughn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Collinstown Presbyterian Church, c/o Penny Mitchell, 2675 Collinstown Rd., Stuart, VA 24171.
