Mr. Jesse Odell Morse, age 94 of Stuart, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on October 16, 1926 to the late Jesse Robert Morse and Beatrice Lawson Morse. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Shelor Morse, an infant son; and three sisters, Rachel Sheppard, Evelyn Hughes and Nadean Ellis. He was a longtime member of Stateline Primitive Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, and he had worked for Clark Brothers Construction until his retirement. He was the honorary mayor of Five Forks.
Mr. Morse is survived by two sons, Philip Odell Morse and wife, Brenda of Westminster, Maryland, Robert Sandy Morse and wife, Karen of Bermuda Run, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Tori Kaskel and husband, Nick, Kristen Swartz and husband, Chris, Katie Jackson and husband, Kevin and Sarah Morse; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Everett Ellis of Ripplemead, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Creel of Westfield, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Stateline Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jerry Cox and Elder Gary Lowe officiating. Mr. Morse will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service, and interment will be held in Stateline Cemetery following the service. Friends may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to pay their respects.
