Mrs. Eva Martin Cassady Thomas, age 77 of Stuart, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at Sovah Health of Martinsville. She was born in Patrick County on June 17, 1944, to the late Willie Beamer Martin and Virginia Otra Roberts Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence “Johnny” Cassady; her second husband, Curtis Thomas; two brothers, Elbert Martin and Edward Martin; and several half-brothers and half-sisters. Eva never met a stranger and loved working at Cotton Mill Apartments. She loved dairy farming and milking cows. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Surviving is three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bill Gravely of Patrick Springs, Karen and Keith Green of Fair Play, SC, Wanda and Jerry Hopkins of Woolwine; one son, Elbert Cassady of Stuart; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ellen Fulcher, Evelyn Hazelwood, Edna Smart all of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Jay Law officiating. Burial will follow in High Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will lie in state on Monday, July 19, 2021, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
