Mrs. Joyce Eva Wood Hutchens

Mrs. Joyce Eva Wood Hutchens, 89, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2020, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Home in Dobson. Mrs. Hutchens was born October 30, 1930, in Yadkin County to the late John Roosevelt Wood and Melie Hutchens Wood. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Osborne Hutchens; her brothers Johnny Clarence Wood and Clyde (Bud) Wood; and a sister Dorothy Wood McCormick Marion. Joyce was a homemaker and a member of Indian Grove Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and daughter-n-laws, Michael Hutchens (Mary Ellen) of Spartanburg, SC and James Hutchens (Sharon) of Galax, VA and one daughter and son-n-law, Kathy Moser (Garry) of Pilot Mountain, NC; a sister and brother-n-law Barbara Matthews (TG) of Yadkinville, NC; three grandsons Jamie Hutchens (Wendy) of Archdale, NC; Joshua Hutchens (Kara) Killeen, Texas, Adam Hutchens (Lea) Carthage, NC; seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by Central Continuing Care, Northern Regional Hospital, Liberty Home Care and Joan and Howard Woltz Home.

No formal visitation will be held; however, family and friends are welcome to attend and pay their respects at the graveside service that will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11:00 am at Indian Grove Community Cemetery in Mt. Airy, NC with Rev. Bill Faw officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Home in Dobson, NC.
