Mrs. Martha Ann Martin, 80 of Stuart, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. She was born in Patrick County on February 25, 1941, to the late Cubie Martin. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” Gary Newman; a grandson, Brian David Newman; and three brothers, Vance, James, and Willie Martin. Martha had retired from Bassett Walker in Stuart after many years of service. She loved animals, gardening, camping, and attending the Bluegrass festival in Galax.
Surviving is a son and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Newman of Patrick Springs, Teresa “Teri” Gibbs Newman of Patrick Springs; three grandchildren, Jessica Hutchens and husband, Patrick, Lacey Harbour and husband, Chris, James Gabriel Newman; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Lou Bray of Smith Mountain, Nancy Strothers of Stuart, Charlotte Prillaman of Woolwine, Judy Martin of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Dr. David Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
