Mrs. Polly Ross Tatum

Mrs. Polly Ross Tatum, age 92 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020 in Laurel Fork. She was born in Patrick County on February 4, 1928 to the late Thomas Fleming Ross and Louise Tatum Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hylton Tatum and one sister, Martha Bumgarner. Mrs. Tatum graduated from James Madison University and had been a teacher with the Patrick County school system for 35 years. She was a 50 year member of D.A.R, a member of Stuart United Methodist Church, and the Retired Teachers Association. She loved playing bridge with all her friends.
Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, William Hylton Tatum, Jr. and Debbie of Stuart, David F. Tatum of Salem; three grandchildren, Nicholas Tatum, Kellie Martin, Ross Tatum,; three great grandchildren; one brother, William Lee Ross of Bluffton, SC; and a special caregiver, Bonnie Goad.
A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stuart United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 946, Stuart, VA 24171 or to the Stuart Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 82, Stuart, VA 24171. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
