Mrs. Violet Pendleton Lyon

Mrs. Violet Pendleton Lyon, age 96 of Stuart, Virginia passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020. She was born in Patrick County on April 26, 1924 to the late Buren Clyde Pendleton and Dorothy Boyd Pendleton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas York Lyon; two sons, Michael Lyon and Vernon Lyon; two sisters; Vivian Carter and Carrie Lee Young; a son-in-law, Junior Taylor. Mrs. Lyon was a member of Dobyns Primitive Baptist Church. Violet enjoyed old time music, was known for her ability to flatfoot, and was a fine seamstress. She will be remembered for her thriftiness, finding a second purpose for everything, working hard, gardening, sharing goods from her garden and canned goods, her love of everything chocolate, for her unwavering faith, and her love of family.

Mrs. Lyon is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Maurice (Mo) and Pat Lyon; three daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Taylor, Dianne and Eddie Hunt, and Betty Jane ”BJ” Stowe, all of Stuart; eight grandchildren; Scott Taylor (Susan), Nickie Hodges (Jerry), Melissa Stowe, Ashley Harris (Nate), Allison Lyon, Emily Hunt, Olivia Hunt and Molly Hunt; four great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; four sisters, Laura Ferguson, Lora Wall, Nannie Lou Kessler and Thelma Young; very special caregivers to whom the family holds considerable gratitude; Bonnie Goad, Tisice Blankenship, Rebecca Lilly, and Sue Reynolds; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Patrick Memorial Gardens. Friends may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to pay their respects.
