The Patrick County middle school track team competed at the Piedmont District Championships on Saturday. “It was a very successful day for our Cougars,” said Coach Danel Slaydon.
Kristian Reynolds won the mile in thrilling fashion, and dominated the field to take victory in the 800.
Hardin Reynolds standout Vanessa Mabe ran a very gutsy 800m race to win and set a new PC middle school record with a time of 2:47. Natalie Evans ran the 100, and Alexis Kidd competed in the 100 and 200, setting PRs in both events.
“These kids have been grinding it out with our varsity squad on the track and in the weight room five days a week. They are a tough group of kids and will be excellent leaders of our program in the years to come,” Slaydon said.
