Nellie Jean Joyce Terry

Nellie Jean Joyce Terry, 93, of Henry County formerly of Patrick County, Va passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Stanleytown Health Care She was born in Patrick County on August 26, 1932 to the late Nannie Sue Tuggle and Louie Washington Joyce. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Kaye Cobbler, son, Carl Louie Terry, five sisters Edith Wray, Ilda Mitchell, Racine Craig, Geneva Dillon, Annie Bea Adams and four brothers, James Curtis Joyce, Dolphus Joyce, Bobby Joyce and Ronnie Joyce.

She was a member of Long Branch Primitive Baptist Church , celebrated a milestone of seventy five years of marriage on November 7, 2025, was a wonderful cook, devoted wife, enjoyed canning, loved her family, and babysitting children. Cared for approximately up to 40 children over her years and collecting dolls loved to read, loved to garden, loved to quilt and crochet, and loved home. She joined the Primitive Baptist Church in 1957, at the time of her death, was a member of Long Branch Primitive Baptist Church in Ferrum, VA

She is survived by her husband, Carl Terry of the home, one daughter, Bonnie Jean Terry Goard, two sons, George William Terry of Holly Lake Ranch, TX, Mark Terry of Bassett, VA, , one sister, Peggy Merriman (Moyer), of Bassett, VA, Tommy Joyce (Emma- Dean) of Bassett, VA, eight grandchildren, Susan Davis, Victoria Owens, Tommy Bell, Terry Cobbler, Amanda Olivera, Wilson Cobbler, Lanca Foster, Leah Johnson, seventeen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Norris Funeral Services Chapel in Stuart with Elder Mark Terry and Elder Junior Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Vesta, Va.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
