Four new directors have been named to the management team at STEP, Inc. Doris Fain, Sharon Lambert, Kris Landrum, and Bobby Welch began serving the agency this spring.
Fain, of Stuart, has been named senior services director and will manage the agency’s services for senior citizens, including home-delivered meals (Meals on Wheels), congregate meals, and transportation services. Senior services are delivered in both Franklin and Patrick counties.
Prior to assuming her current position, Fain served as senior services coordinator at STEP’s Patrick County site since 2012. Previous experience includes coordinating senior services for the Yadkin Valley Economic Development District, Inc., where she worked since 1999.
Her professional development activities include training from the Northwest Piedmont Area on Aging, Cooperative Extension services in both North Carolina and Virginia, and the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.
Lambert, of Glade Hill, is the new weatherization and housing director. In this role, she oversees and directs the weatherization and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, crisis heating and cooling services, and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Housing and weatherization services are delivered in Franklin, Patrick, and Bedford counties.
Landrum, of Gretna, joined STEP as the marketing and communications director and is responsible for planning, developing and implementing the agency’s marketing strategies and communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Prior to joining STEP, she served as public relations and marketing manager at Patrick Henry Community College, where she worked in progressively more responsible positions for 31 years. Welch, of Moneta, directs and manages the agency’s financial operations as the finance director. Before joining STEP, he served as senior accountant for Advance Auto Parts in Roanoke and regional accountant for The Salvation Army in Washington, D.C.
STEP (Solutions That Empower People) is the community action agency that offers Head Start and Early Head Start programs, housing and weatherization, senior and youth services, supportive services, and business and financial services to those who qualify.
Headquartered in Rocky Mount, STEP’s primary service areas are Franklin and Patrick counties, with some services offered in Bedford, Henry and Pittsylvania counties and the cities of Martinsville and Danville.
