The Patrick & Henry Community College Foundation announced a new endowed scholarship for healthcare programs has been established, made possible through a generous donation from the family of D. Victor Williams, Jr.
Williams served on the Patrick & Henry Community College board from 2007 to 2015. He served on the academic student affairs committee from 2007 to 2010, served as the board chairman from 2010 to 2012, and served on the budget and finance committee from 2012 to 2015. His service played an important role in the development of the college as he diligently and conscientiously performed his duties as a member of the board in the best interest of education for the citizens of Patrick and Henry counties.
The D. Victor Williams, Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship’s mission is to help ease the financial burden for students as they pursue their passion and train for their future. The scholarship will be awarded to student(s) who have shown evidence of academic promise and will be used to defray the student’s normal and necessary fees and expenses related to tuition at P&HCC. Recipients must meet the current entrance requirements for acceptance at P&HCC and first preference shall be given to residents of Patrick County who are enrolled in a healthcare program.
“My dad was committed to providing quality healthcare to our citizens. He was equally passionate about educational opportunities. His endowed scholarship exemplifies his devotion to the advancement of Patrick & Henry and our community,” Courtney Williams said.
“We are especially grateful to the Williams family for their support of students in a field of such critical need. Their generosity will ensure preparation for medical professionals in our community for years to come,” said P&HCC Foundation executive director Tiffani Underwood.
