Sherri Hazlewood is the new clerk of the Patrick County Circuit Court.

Patrick County Circuit Court Judge Martin F. Clark administered the oath of office to Hazlewood on Friday, and her term officially began.

Four deputy clerks, Vicki S. Reece, Morgan E. Boothe, Marjorie S. Nowlin and Carolyn W. Cobbler, also took the oath of office on Friday.

Hazlewood said it was fitting the ceremony was a group event.

“I can’t say enough about the exceptional group of ladies working for our Clerk’s Office. They are dedicated, devoted and passionate about what they do,” Hazlewood said.

Each one possesses different talents, characteristics and skill-sets that make for a remarkable team when brought together, Hazlewood said.

She said that she is “thankful and blessed to be a part of the team.”

Clark’s administrative assistant, “Leigh Royal, is a vital part of the team,” Hazlewood added.

The initial term is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2023, Clark said.

Susan Gasperini retired from the post in April.
