The Patrick County Sheriff’s Office and many other law enforcement agencies across the United States will hold a National Night Out event on Aug. 1.
In Patrick, the event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at DeHart Park in Stuart.
It includes a cookout—with hot dogs, chips and drinks.
Participants also are invited to swim and enjoy live music in the gazebo.
National Night Out is a community-law enforcement event created to increase awareness about police programs in communities, including drug prevention efforts, community/neighborhood watches and anti-crime efforts.
National Night Out has been celebrated since 1984, and last year, included more than 38 million residents in 20,000 communities across the US, according to online reports.
