Olene Hancock Chaney, 75, of Martinsville, died Monday, November 21, 2016, at her home.
She was born in Patrick County on July 11, 1941 and was a daughter of the late James L. Hancock and the late Edith Boyd Hancock. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Via and Peggy Hatcher.
She was a member of the Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church and had worked at Fieldcrest Mills for 20 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Hubert Chaney; son, Mike Chaney; two daughters, Donna Stuart and Rhonda Halsey; three grandchildren, Jacob Lemons, Barbara Odell and Katie Hall; five sisters, Linda Doss, Maxine Harris, Inez Hancock, Bonnie Spence, and Kathy Reed; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Wednesday in the Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church with Pastors Greg Hodges and Jack Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Union Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
