The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce announced the new 2022 Treasured Scenes ornament titled, “Commemorating 50 years of the Patrick County Christmas Parade.”

The new, beautifully crafted decoration adds to an already impressive ornament collection series.

It will be unveiled at the Apple Dumpling Festival on Saturday, October 22, and will be available for purchase between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the chamber office in downtown Stuart (334 Patrick Avenue) and the Patrick County Visitors Center in uptown Stuart (126 North Main Street).

The ornament costs $13 (sales tax included).

The Treasured Scenes glass ball is a custom tree ornament and measures three and one-fourth inches. The vintage color ornament hosts a beautiful display of Santa in his sleigh at the first annual Christmas Parade in Patrick County. This logo is encircled with the inscription “1972 Patrick County Christmas Parade.” On the reverse side of the glass ornament is the Patrick County logo and 2022 commemorative date.

The Patrick County Jaycees began hosting the annual Patrick County Christmas Parade in 1972 under the direction of the late Bill Pons and Bruce Griffith. As the annual parade celebrates its 50th birthday this year, other events that have grown up around and alongside it also are being showcased.

Uptown and downtown Stuart is magically transformed to reflect the spirit of the season with lighted snowflakes, light pole banners, and other decorations up and down the streets. Businesses throughout the county participate in window decorating and special holiday shopping hours.

The first Saturday in December is deemed “Hometown Christmas,” and includes an ever-expanding list of activities, including the Grand Illumination of the Christmas tree at the Patrick County Courthouse, Mistletoe Market, and the recently created “breathtaking” drive-through light show at Dehart Park in Stuart.

To read more about the Patrick County Christmas Parade in Stuart (by Kristin Hylton), pick up the Fall 2022 Patrick County Magazine at the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce, the Patrick County Visitor’s Center or one of the businesses throughout the county.

For additional information about the new 2022 Patrick County Christmas Parade ornament, call the chamber office at (276) 694-6012 or visit www.patrickchamber.com.
