Piedmont Arts will host its annual Garden Party on Thursday, June 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Gravely-Lester Art Garden. The event will feature live music by Orquesta Tropikiimba.
The group’s specialty is Afro-Latino music: Salsa, Rumba, Bachata, Merengue, Calypso, Afro-Pop and the list goes on and on. Their infectious rhythms are guaranteed to get you on your feet and dancing. One of the few authentic Afro-Caribbean orchestras in Virginia, the members of this 13-piece band hail from countries as diverse as Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas and the United States.
In addition to live music, guests can enjoy craft beer from Danville’s Ballad Brewing and food by Cheesesteak Factory and Jerk House. Water and lemonade are free of charge, but guests should bring cash for the bar and food truck, and a lawn chair or blanket for seating. No outside food or drinks are allowed at this event. In case of rain, the Garden Party will be held at Piedmont Arts.
Tickets are $15 each. Ages 12 and under are free. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts and online at PiedmontArts.org.
