The Pack Shack “Feed the Funnel” Party will be held at Stuart Rotary Building on April 2.
The goal of the event is to provide 20,000 meals for a minimum of $5,000 at a cost of 25 cents per meal, with each meal feeding a family of four.
Participants will be packing the food, which will remain with organizations in the community to serve people in need.
“Please prayerfully consider making this a community event to raise awareness of hunger here and abroad by contributing and participating in this fun family-oriented event,” said Jane Cardwell, who is coordinating the program along with Carol Beasley.
Stuart United Methodist Church Youth have already raised $500 toward this event and will be spending “a night in a box” to raise more money through sponsorships.
All meals will be donated to the Disaster Relief Food Ministry, the Patrick County Community Food Bank, and food programs at Woolwine United Methodist Church, Providence United Methodist Church, and the Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.
All churches, businesses, active meeting groups, and individuals are urged to participate to make this a community event at Rotary Field. Checks may be made to the Pack Shack and brought to the April 2 event.
The Patrick County Shooting Education Team will be selling hot dogs, cold drinks and chips on site.
The Stuart United Methodist Church Youth Group members are selling “Feed the Funnel” t-shirts at a cost of $10 for sizes S-XL and $14 for 2X and 3X. Gold, silver and bronze sponsorships will be printed on the backs of the shirts.
Please contact Stuart UMC at 276-694-3322 with the number of participants you expect to bring, t-shirt numbers and pledge amounts by March 1.
Contact Jane Cardwell at 276-694-7735 for more information.
