The Patrick County School Board learned at its Aug. 14 meeting that the school division was awarded the 2024-25 National Beta District of Distinction Award.

Schools Superintendent Jason Wood said only 78 school districts in the nation received the honor.

“We are so proud. This national award speaks highly of Patrick County Public Schools’ commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and service involvement and illustrates its dedication to preparing students for college and career readiness,” he said.

Wood said students in the division understand the importance of those qualities and exemplify the Beta motto, “Let us lead by serving others.”

“Our selection as a National Beta District of Distinction is a reflection of the outstanding collaboration between our students, educators, club sponsors, principals, and families,” he said. “It is a testament to the culture of excellence we strive to foster, where leadership, service, and academic success go hand in hand.”

Wood added that National Beta’s mission of promoting academic achievement, character, service, and leadership aligns closely with the values upheld by the school division.

The Patrick County School Board dedicated its office’s conference and boardroom as the Sara Leigh Dickerson Collins Conference and Boardroom. Flanked by board members and Superintendent Jason Wood, Collins is holding the plaque.
