A Patrick County team took home first place at the fourth annual Miles 4 Vets Fundraising Golf Tournament that was held June 7 at Forest Park Country Club in Martinsville.

Wesley Roberson, Chicken Conner, Brad Cline and Chris DeBruhl took home the first-place title and $400; Brian Taylor, Jerry Handy, Tim Jennings and Bill Ratcliff were the second-place winners and received $200; Shannon Campbell, Cecil Honaker, Barry Faklor and Johnny Gray placed third and received $100.

Proceeds raised from the tournament are used to provide disabled and/or senior veterans a door-to-door service, with wheel-chair accessible vehicles every Monday to the Community Based Outreach Clinic in Danville and on Wednesdays to the Salem VA Medical Center.

Eligible veterans live in the cities of Martinsville and Danville or the counties of Patrick, Henry, Pittsylvania and Franklin.

In other tournament contests:

Steve Smith won a Mélange Micah chest donated by Hooker Furniture and Tim Jennings won two tickets donated by Martinsville Speedway to the First Data 500 NASCAR race.

No one won the hole-in-one prize — a motorcycle donated by Thunder Road Harley Davidson.
